Your route starts at Restaurant Eethuis De Stoeterij, a beautifully centrally located base for the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Heathlands, open sandy plains and deciduous and coniferous forests alternate in a gently sloping landscape that has traditionally been inhabited by prehistoric man. De Vuursche is a wonderful area to explore by bike. Camps, fences, death roads, urn fields and burial mounds are frequently present in this area. Also striking are the many royal ferns that adorn the Vuursche. Stately estates and a varied wooded area with coniferous and deciduous trees make the Vuursche very attractive. You always discover something new. Soest, Soesterberg and Den Dolder are nice places to stop for a break, so be sure to take the time to look around here.
