Around Valkenburg you drive through the picturesque Heuvelland. An ideal trip for a varied day out in one of the most beautiful regions of the Netherlands.
Gulpen
In this region you can fully enjoy the characteristic atmosphere that gives you the feeling of being on holiday abroad for a day. You will see monumental half-timbered houses, idyllic stream valleys and sloped forests. In Gulpen you will pass the St. Peter's Church. Originally this was located a little further along your route. All that remains of this centuries-old predecessor is the striking church tower, which is also used as a defensive structure.
Oud-Valkenburg is a picturesque hamlet on the Geul. Here you will see, among other things, the eleventh-century John the Baptist Church, one of the oldest churches in this region. Near Voerendaal you will pass Puth Castle, which is located behind an impressive castle farm.
