You drive through the picturesque Heuvelland around Valkenburg. An ideal trip for a varied day out in one of the most beautiful regions of the Netherlands.

In this region you can fully enjoy the characteristic atmosphere that gives you the feeling that you are on holiday abroad for a day. You will see monumental half-timbered houses, idyllic stream valleys and sloping forests. In Gulpen you will pass the St. Peter's Church. Originally it was a little further along your route. Only the striking church tower remains of this age-old predecessor, which is also used as a defense work.

Schaloen Castle
Oud-Valkenburg is a picturesque hamlet on the Geul. Here you can see the eleventh-century Johannes de Doperkerk, one of the oldest churches in this region. Further on you will pass Castle Genhoes, the Schaloensmolen and Castle Schaloen. Originally this twelfth-century castle served as a fortification, since a renovation in 1656 the building has looked like a romantic pleasure garden. At Voerendaal you will pass Castle Puth, which lies behind an impressive castle farm.
