Airborne Walking Tour - 40km

This distance has been part of the Airborne Walk (by popular demand) since the 55th edition and is only intended for the individual walker. The start of the tour is impressive. You walk past the Airborne Museum where many people are in the stands to cheer you on. Just before eleven o'clock, the trumpet signal'reveille\\\' sounds, followed by a minute of silence. Then the march leader opens the walking tour and groups of soldiers, military police, police, scouting and civilians present themselves to the mayor and appointed dignitaries. After the Airborne Museum you walk through the beautiful nature of the Veluwe. There is also a nice view over the Rhine along the way. You also walk through the vast forests of the Bilderberg, where a fierce battle was fought. The Airbornes landed in Wolfheze, Heelsum and Renkum. You walk through here. Just before the end of the route, a visit to the Oude Kerk is worthwhile. Airborne Walk The Airborne Walk is a memorial tour in the context of the Battle of Arnhem (September 1944) and takes place every first Saturday of September in Oosterbeek. It is one of the largest international walking events. The Airborne March is a tribute to the more than 1,700 British and Polish soldiers who lost their lives in the Battle of Arnhem and are buried at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek. The proceeds of the Airborne Walk are used to enable less well-off former combatants and relatives to come over to attend the annual Airborne commemorations in and around Arnhem. The Airborne walking tour has been organized annually since 1947 by the Police Sports Association Renkum. Start and finish are at sports park Hartenstein, located on the JJ Talsmalaan in Oosterbeek, behind the Airborne Museum. You can register for 4 distances: 10, 15, 25 and 40 kilometers.
