The Four Days Marches in Nijmegen consists of four days of walking pleasure in the wider area of the city of Nijmegen. You walk through Gelderland, Brabant and Limburg. Every day there is a different place in the Nijmegen area.
The second day of the Four Days Marches is the Day of Wijchen. You start with a walk through the city of Wijchen towards the Hatertse Vennen. The Hatertse en Overasseltse Vennen is a fen area of approximately 520 hectares in the Gelderland municipalities of Heumen and Wijchen. The area consists of about twenty fens and the surrounding river dunes, heaths and forest areas. A beautifully varied area to walk through. You then walk via Alverna to Wijchen. In Alverna, Balgoij, Niftrik, Wijchen and Woezen you will be welcomed with music and an enthusiastic audience along the side of the road. Then you walk through Beuningen and Weurt. A musical roadshow welcomes the walkers here at the municipal boundary. The Thorbeckeplein car park will be transformed into a cozy terrace with various children's attractions, including a bouncy castle. The enthusiastic audience, musicians, music bands and even a cozy mop orchestra create a pleasant atmosphere along the entire route from Beuningen to Weurt. From Weurt you walk a bit through Nijmegen, before you arrive at the cozy Wedren. The second day is also known as Pink Wednesday. More and more walkers wear something pink on this day.
