Description
It's time to explore the area around Lake Alkmaardermeer and Lake Uitgeestermeer on your steel steed and discover the watery polder landscape. This characteristic peat meadow area is rich in vulnerable plant species. Along the way, you'll enjoy typical cultural heritage: you'll cycle past numerous windmills. Also particularly beautiful is the Fort at Krommeniedijk, part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. Between 1897 and 1956, it was used as a fortification. You'll also pass the Zaanse Schans, a unique part of the Netherlands full of wooden houses, windmills, barns, and workshops.
