Description

Groningen is known for its mounds, hills that have been artificially raised to escape to at high tide. Today you cycle through the Wold region, where you can experience a lot of culture in the small villages and hamlets. You can also expect many waters, channels, canals and ditches, because this area has been extensively reclaimed. They form a special interplay with the artificial height differences of the mounds. In a landscape like this, a visit to an important part of Dutch cultural-historical heritage should not be missed. You cycle to the Germania mill in Thesinge. The flour mill was built in 1825 as a ground sailor, but was upgraded to a tower mill in 1852.
