The Gelderse Valley and Utrechtse Heuvelrug

With this route you experience the best of both worlds. You drive through the wide Gelderse Vallei, but also through the forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. In between you come through the beautiful Veenendaal.

Gelderse Valley
At Pannekoekhuis De Grebbeberg you can eat something tasty, so that you get on your bike with enough energy. You descend the hill, through the forests you ride into the Gelderse Vallei. While you ride along the Valleikanaal, you enjoy the views over the grasslands. Incidentally, the canal forms the border between Utrecht and Gelderland here. You ride through Veenendaal, after which you ride along the Emminkhuizerberg: a hill that rises about 15 meters above the landscape.

Rhenen
After a while you make a climb to get to the forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. How wonderfully quiet it is to cycle here between the old deciduous and coniferous trees! A little later you descend again. On the right you cycle along the edge of the forest, on the left you regularly have views over the meadows. A varied piece that has a nice tail: you cycle through the floodplains along the Rhine with a view of Rhenen!
