The Gelderse Valley and Utrechtse Heuvelrug

With this route you experience the best of both worlds. You drive through the wide Gelderse Valley, but also through the woods on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. In between you will pass through the beautiful Veenendaal.

Gelderland Valley
At Pannekoekhuis De Grebbeberg you can eat something delicious, so that you get on your bike with enough energy. You descend the hill, through the woods you drive into the Gelderse Vallei. As you drive along the Valley Canal, you can enjoy the views over the grasslands. The canal here forms the border between Utrecht and Gelderland. You drive through Veenendaal, after which you pass the Emminkhuizerberg: a hill that protrudes about 15 meters above the landscape.

Rhenen
After a while you make a small climb to get to the woods on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. How wonderfully quiet it is to cycle between the old deciduous and coniferous trees! A little later you descend a bit again. On the right you cycle along the edge of the forest, on the left you regularly have views over the meadows. A varied part that gets a nice tail: you drive through the floodplains along the Rhine with a view of Rhenen!
