The Gelderse Vallei and Utrechtse Heuvelrug

With this route you experience the best of both worlds. You drive through the vast Gelderse Valley, but also through the forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. In between you will pass through the beautiful Veenendaal.

Gelderland Valley
At Pannekoekhuis De Grebbeberg you can eat something tasty, so that you can get on your bike with enough energy. You descend the hill and drive through the woods into the Gelderse Vallei. As you drive along the Valleikanaal, you enjoy the views over the grasslands. The canal here forms the border between Utrecht and Gelderland. You drive through Veenendaal, after which you drive past the Emminkhuizerberg: a hill that rises about 15 meters above the landscape.

Rhenen
After a while you make a climb to reach the woods on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. How wonderfully quiet it is to cycle here between the old deciduous and coniferous trees! A little later you descend again a bit. On the right you cycle along the edge of the forest, on the left you regularly have views over the meadows. A varied section with a nice ending: you drive through the floodplains along the Rhine with a view of Rhenen!
