This route takes you through an ash landscape with old wooded banks and lovely water streams around Borculo. Be enchanted by this lovely small-scale landscape with cute vistas during your bike ride. You are very welcome in Berkelland.
Through Ruurlo to Borculo
Beltrum is the starting point of this route. From here you cycle through the Gelderland bocage landscape to Ruurlo. That cozy town once consisted of a vast swamp area, but you can't see anything of it now. Just before you enter the town you will pass Ruurlo Castle. This country estate was already mentioned in documents in 1326. Part of the medieval wall of the castle can still be found in the basement and almost the entire left side of the castle was built in the sixteenth century. The tower at the back of the castle dates from the seventeenth century and other parts of the castle were built in the 19th century. A little further you can take a look at the Oliemölle / Stone Table in Borculo.

The Oliemölle/Stenentafel is an undershot watermill that consists of two parts on different banks. On one bank is a corn and hulling mill and on the other bank a former oil mill that was converted into a corn mill in 1920. The current water mill has its origins in the eighteenth century.

Ruurlo Castle, Museum MORE's second location, is now open to the public. The life and work of grandmaster Carel Willink is central to the castle. The set-up shows the development of a searching artist who later manages to develop as an unparalleled painter. Olliem? Lle De Stenen Tafel is a watermill in the heart of Borculo on a side branch of the Berkel. The mill consists of a corn and hull mill and an oil mill on two different banks. The building dates back to the 18th century and it was restored in the 1970s.
