Scheveningen and the dunes of Wassenaar

After enjoying a cup of coffee at Boerderij Meijendel Pannenkoeken and more, you get on your bike. Neighboring Wassenaar is of course known for its beautiful villas and buildings. This route takes you to two historic buildings that are worth a visit. The elegant De Wittenburg Castle is located on a wooded estate that used to be called Groot Hoefijzer. The current building dates from 1899. The small house in the park was built for a generator and a water pump, which could provide the complex with electricity and running water. The second attraction is an old farm that bears the name'Vreeburg\\\'. That farm was demolished and replaced in 1943. The tower that stands against the new house is a remnant of the original farm.
