Tour of Regge and Sallandse Heuvelrug

Your route starts at Hotel Restaurant De Zwaan. You cross to the Regge and pass the former manor of Egede, of which the eighteenth-century building still remains. Also take a look at the Kokhuusie at Boerderij De Brummel. Kokhuusies are typical of this region. The larger cooking work was done here, but the laundry was also done here on the large pot-bellied stove. Get off at Restaurant De Budde and then take a look at the Sallandse Heuvelrug Visitor Center. The landscape was formed 200,000 years ago by glaciers from Scandinavia. Nowadays, Salland's nature consists of forests and heathland. The forests have been planted to prevent sand drifts and form a nice change between the dry heathlands. The last viable population of grouse in the Netherlands lives here.
