Description
Your route starts at Pannenkoekenboerderij Brinkzicht, in the middle of the Drentsche Aa National Landscape. Saxon farms, fields on convex ash trees, higher fields and the hay meadows in the lower stream valley: a typical Drenthe esdorp landscape. Along the way you can admire the dolmens that Drenthe is known for. Hunebed D16 is a fairly large hunebed with nine capstones. Number 17 is located near the church in a beautiful spot, but the hunebed is no longer in optimal condition. D18 looks better due to a restoration. At the time, the structures were used as a final resting place for the dead. Even though not all dolmens are beautifully intact, they are all impressive places. You wonder how people with simple tools managed to make this thousands of years ago.
