Tour of Brunssummerheide, Landgraaf and Rimburg

From Schinveld you first drive a bit along the Merkelbekerbeek, a small-scale nature reserve. Just past junction 70 you see the medieval Sint-Clemenskerk on a hill. Via the picturesque Amstenrade you make a shortcut through Brunssum, after which you drive into the Brunssummerheide. Thanks to the differences in height you have beautiful views here. At junction 42 you drive over the border. You come through the Wurmtal, a deeply incised stream valley along the border river the Worm. Right along the Worm there are pieces of marshy lowland peat. A little later you drive a bit through Rimburger Wald. Just before the border you see Kasteel Rimburg and the associated Rimburgermolen, the associated Dutch Rimburg enjoys a protected village view. Via the German nature reserve the Teverener Heide and the Schutterspark you drive back to HeerLux. Time for a cozy terrace!
