Description

From Schinveld you first drive along the Merkelbekerbeek, a small-scale nature reserve. Just past junction 70 you will see the medieval St. Clemens Church on a hill. Via the picturesque Amstenrade you make a shortcut through Brunssum, after which you drive into the Brunssummerheide. Thanks to the height differences, you have beautiful views here. You cross the border at junction 42. You pass through the Wurmtal, a deeply incised stream valley along the border river the Worm. There are stretches of swampy moorland close to the Worm. A little later you drive a bit through Rimburger Wald. Just before the border you see Rimburg Castle and the associated Rimburger mill, the associated Dutch Rimburg enjoys a protected village view. You drive back to HeerLux via the German nature reserve the Teverener Heide and the Schutterspark. Time for a nice terrace!
