Avifauna-Gouda

The destination of this cycling tour is Gouda, a beautiful historic city in the Green Heart. You cycle via Boskoop with its many tree nurseries to the center of Gouda. Park your bike near the tourist office (junction 42) and discover the city center on foot. Everything in the center is within walking distance of each other. Explore the small streets and stroll through one of the most beautiful market squares in Europe. A visit to St. John's Church should certainly not be missed. At 123 meters, this is the longest church in the Netherlands. Sint Jan is famous for its Goudse Glazen, a large collection of stained glass windows. Every year in December, the Gouda candle evening takes place in Gouda, a beautiful spectacle in which the entire market square is beautifully illuminated. On the way back you drive past the Reeuwijkse plassen with their many meadow and water birds. You may already catch a glimpse of the wigeon, gadwall, northern shoveler, little swan or white-fronted goose, because this area is a resting place especially for these birds that winter in the Netherlands.
