Description
The Palingroute is a varied circular walk along the edges of the old peat polder Katwoude. You will pass the Heitje van Katham, a small nature reserve of the Stichting Het Noordhollands Landschap. What is very special is that 4 types of heather grow here: crow, bell, shrub and lavender heather. In Volendam and Monnickendam the route runs along the harbour, where you can visit an eel smokehouse. The route is marked with blue stickers. The alternative options are indicated with yellow stickers.
