Description
The Eel Route is a varied circular walk along the edges of the old Katwoude peat polder. You will pass the Heitje van Katham, a small nature reserve of the North Holland Landscape Foundation. It is very special that 4 types of heath grow here: crow, cap, shrub and lavender heath. In Volendam and Monnickendam the route runs along the harbor, where you can visit an eel smokehouse. The route is marked with blue stickers. The alternative options are indicated with yellow stickers.
