Owl corner route

The Uilenhoek route is a marked circular walk on the Beemsterringdijk with a passage straight through De Beemster. The route follows the winding ring dike and then continues on the dead straight Vrouwenweg through the north of De Beemster. Along the Vrouwenweg you pass, among other things, the Uilenhoeve, one of the many beautiful farms in De Beemster. In the spring, De Beemster teems with meadow birds, such as black-tailed godwits, redshanks and lapwings. In order to allow the meadow birds to breed in peace, no cows graze in the spring. Mowing only takes place after mid-June, when the chicks of the meadow birds can fly. The route can be shortened to 5.5 km. The unpaved parts of the Beemsterringdijk are often bumpy or muddy. At many points you have to climb over fences with the help of stiles. The route is marked with blue stickers with the name of the route and an icon on it. The alternative options are indicated with yellow stickers.
