Tour of the Vechtdal and hamlet of Arrien

In the low polder you mainly see grasslands, on the es there are still fields here and there. You visit the esdorp of Arriën, where you pass some beautiful nineteenth-century monumental farms. During the Second World War, there was a labor camp here that was used as a buffer for Camp Westerbork. The route then takes you through the woods and heathland around Arriën. You walk through an area that is old-fashioned quiet. You have plenty of time for a picnic, such as at the closed meander of the Overijsselse Vecht. Like an elongated horseshoe, this stream encloses the Junner Koeland, a former grazing area for the cows of the local farmers.
