The crown on the Netherlands

Every Wadden Island is a crown jewel. The unique combination of dunes, beach, forests and island culture makes every visit unforgettable. With this route you will experience all of Vlieland. From the harbor in the east you walk all the way to the sand plain in the west - and back again. On the northern side of the island you walk on the wide sandy beach where the waves of the North Sea roar: a wonderful and soothing sound. In good weather it is tempting to have a picnic here or let the wind blow your mind away. More than 100 species of birds can be found in the Kroon\\\'s Polders in the west (whether or not they pass through). In the dunes you experience an almost mysterious tranquility when the wind rustles through the grass. Of course, the route also passes through the characteristic village of Oost-Vlieland and the famous Posthuis. Between 1677 and 1927, this original wooden building from the seventeenth century formed the link in the Amsterdam-Vlieland-Terschelling postal route. This 35-kilometer route starts and ends in the harbor. Less experienced walkers can partly shorten the figure-eight route.
