Walking in Het Gooi with Jacobus Craandijk

The Netherlands in miniature Het Gooi offers a varied walking experience. At a short distance you walk through moist grasslands, old forests and over an extensive heath. It looks like the Netherlands in miniature. And then there are the old estates with their monumental mansions. The route starts at Hilversum Station. From this media city you walk into the's Gravenlandse polder, a transitional area between sandy soils and low moors. In addition to water and wet meadows, you will also find some stately country houses. You walk across Landgoed Gooilust and - if you are prepared to extend your route by almost four kilometers - over the Boekesteyn and Schaep & Burgh estates. The plots for these estates were already divided in 1634 - by drawing lots! In the Spanderswoud you walk in the shade of deciduous trees and you smell the fresh conifers. Then you cross the nature bridge Zanderij Crailoo. With a length of 800 meters and a width of 50 meters, this is the largest ecoduct in the world. Via this passage you walk onto the Bussumerheide. Take your time to enjoy the open heath landscape before the route leads you to Station Hilversum Mediapark.
