The Klingerberg

Klingerberg is a 121 hectare district in Blerick, a district of Venlo. The population of the district was 4,360 in 2003, of which 2,200 were men and 2,160 were women. This number has decreased over the years to 4270 inhabitants in 2006 (2140 men and 2130 women). Klingerberg contains 1655 households. In the northwest side of Blerick there was a system of old Maas arms. Part of this is the Egerbosbeekdal. This valley originally contained fields (the lower Maasveld). These fields were used as arable land, the stream valley as pasture. The Klingerberg district is now located on that site. Due to the construction of this district, none of this can be seen anymore. The Klingerberg district was built in the northwest of Blerick in the 1980s and 1990s. The 30km Klingerbergsingel road is the longest street and also the main road. The district is named after the hill that is located in the park on the edge of the district. The hill is located in the Maashofpark. A wide stretch of greenery that runs around the Klingerberg and ends in the Wassum Park. Apart from the Klingerbergsingel, all streets in the built-up area are named after shrubs and trees. The district is currently surrounded by the A73, N556 (Eindhovenseweg), Mulkenshofweg and Henriette Roland Holstlaan. (with the exception of 1st phase Klingerberg, which is on the other side of Henriette Roland Holstlaan).
