The Klingerberg

Klingerberg is a neighborhood of 121 hectares in Blerick, a district of Venlo. The population of the district amounted to 4360 in 2003, of which 2200 men and 2160 women. This number has decreased over the years to 4270 inhabitants in 2006 (2140 men and 2130 women). Klingerberg contains 1655 households. In the northwest of Blerick lay a system of old Maasarmen. Part of this is the Egerbosbeek valley. This valley originally contains fields (the lower Maasveld). These fields were used as arable land, the stream valley as meadow. The Klingerberg district is now located on that spot. Due to the construction of this district, nothing of this can be seen anymore. The Klingerberg district was built in the eighties and nineties of the twentieth century in the northwest of Blerick. The 30 km road Klingerbergsingel is the longest street and also the main road. The neighborhood is named after the hill in the park on the edge of the neighborhood. The hill is located in the Maashof Park. A wide piece of green space that runs around the Klingerberg and ends in the Wassumpark. Apart from the Klingerbergsingel, all streets in the built-up area are named after shrubs and trees. The district is still enclosed by the A73, N556 (Eindhovenseweg), Mulkenshofweg and Henriette Roland Holstlaan. (with the exception of 1st phase Klingerberg, which is located on the other side of Henriette Roland Holstlaan).
