Historical route Voorne-Putten

Your cycling route starts at Strand- en Eetcafé Boelies, on Voorne-Putten. You cycle to Oostvoorne via Voornes Duin. There once was a tram line from Rotterdam to the beach boulevard of Oostvoorne. Many Rotterdammers still come here for a day at the seaside. The old village center includes the restored ruins of the medieval Jacoba Castle, the country residence of Jacoba of Bavaria. You will also pass through the old center of Brielle, the largely seventeenth-century fortress is one of the best preserved defense structures in the Netherlands. Then you cycle to the port of Hellevoetsluis. Here you can visit the Jan Blanken Dry Dock, which was built between 1798 and 1822. You cycle back to your starting point with a view of the Haringvlietdam from 1971, which spans 4.5 kilometers.
