Description

Your route starts in the Bunderbos, a sea of trees that stretches over a length of five kilometers. The ribbon-shaped forest covers a number of Maas terraces in the Maas valley. Schimmert is one of the highest situated (church) villages in the Netherlands, special! Further on you pass the castle Sint Gerlach, which was built in the twelfth century as a monastery. It was not until the nineteenth century that the monastery was converted into a castle. The area around the South Limburg village of Geulhem is beautiful. In the Geulhemmerberg there are several former marl quarries in which cave dwellings have been built. Via Stein and Urmond you drive to Elsloo. Elsloo Castle is the eye-catcher of the protected village view in Elsloo, a picturesque town on the Maas.
