The Heart of Drenthe consists of about 5000 hectares of contiguous nature areas! Wherever you cycle there: it is wonderfully quiet everywhere. The deeper you go into the forest, the more everyday life seems to disappear behind you. A good moment to clear your head completely. You will also pass the Boomkroonpad. During this educational and fun walk through the treetops you have beautiful views of the wooded area.

Orvelte Open Air Museum
Gieten, Grolloo, Gasselte: you will find beautiful monumental buildings, such as the thirteenth-century church in Gasselte. Orvelte, which is more than a thousand years old, also houses many historical sights. It is not for nothing that it scores high on lists of the most beautiful Dutch villages. In a number of old buildings it is shown - sometimes for a fee - how, for example, sawmillers, blacksmiths and glassblowers lived and worked in earlier times. Extra nice: Orvelte is car-free! At Restaurant de Wiemel you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee, lunch and dinner.
