Nijmegen is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. This route takes you through the hilly eastern part of the city, where, according to some archaeological finds, Roman fortifications once stood. You walk into the countryside via the Hunnerberg district, where you can see some beautiful monuments. The route leads you through the woods and meadows of the Heerlijkheid Beek nature reserve. During the walk you have a beautiful view of the Waal and the Ooijpolder, the nature reserve that is located on the other side of the Het Meer watercourse, at various places. You can hardly imagine that there is a big city around the corner, it is so quiet here.
Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
