Print this route

This walk takes you from Camping and Camping Farm't Boerenerf through the green countryside between Maarn and Woudenberg. The first part of the route takes you through the rural area west of Woudenberg with the characteristic farms, meadows, old ditches and pollarded trees. From the dike along the Woudenbergse Grift it is easy to see how the landscape here was divided into regular straight plots during the reclamation. The plots were marked by planting alders and willows, trees that are pruned every year. Just above Maarn you walk into De Koeheuvels. Until the twentieth century, Maarn was surrounded by an extensive heathland area. Only De Koeheuvels remains of this ancient landscape. Further on you walk through the woods on the edge of the Henschoten Estate.
