Walking around Soest: always beautiful, always different

South of Soest you will find a green forest area that is perfect for a walk. Put on your walking shoes and enjoy the tranquility around Soestduinen. Throughout the seasons, nature here changes constantly, so that you are always surprised by new natural beauty. The starting point of this route is at Soest station. From here you walk to the forest of Laag Hees. Around 1600, peat was excavated in this area. Later, many beech, oak and Scots pines were planted, creating the current forest. A little further on you walk across the Paltz estate. Take a good look around here to spot badgers and deer. The oldest part of this estate consists of a landscaped park forest. On this estate you will find a somewhat dilapidated country house in which Herman van Veen's gallery is located. Here you can admire his impressive paintings.
