Your route starts at TOP Rhoonse Grienden. Get off at Van Rhoon Castle. This keep was built in 1492, on the spot where an older castle was claimed by the waters of the St. Elizabeth's Flood in 1421. Surrounding the castle is a beautiful English garden, a Baroque garden and the Castle Forest. The castle was restored during the Bentinck period and equipped with Empire style windows, stepped gables and turrets. Take a break in Rotterdam at Café-Restaurant De Gouden Leeuw! You drive back along the Oude Maas, along a string of nature reserves. The Oude Maas is under the influence of ebb and flow. The narrow floodplains form the largest freshwater tidal area still found in the Netherlands. You will see tidal banks, willow forests and moist reed and brush areas.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
