Cycling along the Randmeren, through special forests and vast polders? You can do this in Flevoland, the youngest province where cycling is wonderful.
Urban forests Almere
Just below Almere you drive through a number of special city forests. You will pass through the Cirkelbos, which is laid out with sleek straight lines. You mainly see hazel, beech and alder. The Cathedral Forest owes its name to two 'cathedrals': full-size green replicas of the Reims Cathedral. One consists of a grassy area in the forest, the other represents the pillars of the cathedral with Italian poplars.
Green Wall
On the banks of the Gooi and Eemmeer you have beautiful views over the water and the polders and contours of villages on the other side. From the path along the Hoge Vaart canal you see a green wall looming: the Horsterwold, the largest contiguous deciduous forest in Western Europe. It is a pleasure to ride in this quiet and varied forest.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
