Tour of Leeuwenhorst for garden lovers

It is not without reason that Noordwijkerhout calls itself the Heart of the Bulb Region: all around you you walk through the picturesque bulb fields. The Leeuwenhorst estate is a nice exception to this. Here you walk through a quiet forest with old oaks and beech trees, but also with blackberries, rowan trees and honeysuckle. Part of the forest was replanted after the Second World War. The Germans dug an anti-tank embankment here in 1943 and not only demolished the country house, but also blindly cut away part of the old forest to create a clear field of fire.
