Avifauna - Farm t Geertje (Zoeterwoude)

You cycle from Avifauna towards Hazerswoude-Dorp. Here you pass Jeu de Boer (junction 5, also a Tourist Transfer Point). Various activities are organized on this recreational farm, such as farmer's golf and there is a shop with regional products. You can enjoy a drink or ice cream on the rural terrace. You then cycle in the direction of the Noord Aa recreational lake in Zoetermeer. Little Bitterns in the North Aa area. At Noord Aa you can cool off in the lake on hot days and relax on the beautiful sandy beach. The North Aa is a varied nature reserve where there is something for everyone. Nice bird detail: a family of Little Bitterns, a species of heron, settled in the area this summer. The very rare birds (monkeys because they clamber through the reeds) nest in the reeds of the pond, three young are being raised at the moment. In the Netherlands, only ten to twenty pairs of these very rare birds breed. Feeding Goats at't Geertje Further into the polder (after junction 27) lies Farm't Geertje.'t Geertje is an organic livestock farm, where many different animals are kept, including dairy goats, dairy cows and horses. Milk and cheese from their own goats and cows are for sale in the shop. There are daily activities for children, ranging from cuddling animals, pony rides to bottle-feeding goats. An unforgettable experience. Via Zoeterwoude you cycle back to Alphen aan den Rijn.
