Description
This route through the Oude Appelaarse polder takes you past the nicest regional shops full of local delicacies. While enjoying the vast polder landscape, you will also discover beautiful places, such as the Tonnekreek and the fortified town of Klundert.
The Oude Appelaarse polder had a strong link with the village of Fijnaart, which had previously been swept away by the Sint Elisabeth flood. For example, the original harbor of Fijnaart already ran through the old bunting and later through this polder.
The Old Appelaarse polder
As an accretionary polder, the'Oude Appelaar\\\' consisted of a bunting created by natural accretion. The polder was diked as early as 1597.
