Cycling in Sudwest-Fryslan (or Southwest Friesland) is a joy. You will find plenty of peace, space and sights here. Get on your bike and experience the charm of this region for yourself. Between Burgwerd and Wommels you will discover the Aylvapolder right along the cycle path: one of the largest windmills in Friesland. In Iens you can take a look at the beautiful old church. Further on you pass the former Jongema State: of these stins only the gatehouse from 1603 has been preserved. In Poppenwier you can still experience the atmosphere of times gone by. In Hartwerd you can view one of the Frisian bell towers. It dates from the second quarter of the nineteenth century and was partly built with remains of the former church tower.
