Wide vistas, mills and church towers that loom like beacons in the landscape: what a wonderful way to blow out and switch back in Friesland. A wonderful route to get some fresh air again!
Middle Sea
You will pass through some beautiful old terp villages, such as Boksum, Deinum and Dronrijp. These three villages were once located on the Middelzee, a former sea arm that ran through Friesland until the Middle Ages. You will pass the Hatsumermolen: an octagonal polder mill from 1878. Further on is the Edensermolen. This beautiful polder mill dates from 1847.
Clock House
In Hennaard you will find several houses around the mound. At the cemetery you can visit a special belfry. This square belfry dates from 1870, the base was built with stones from the church that was demolished in 1862. The bell dates back to the thirteenth century! You can also see beautiful old churches in Oosterlittens and Weidum. In the protected village view of Mantgum you can see, among other things, several annuitant houses and associated parks from 1875.
