Description

Your cycle route starts at Paviljoen de Duinrand. You drive along the Brielse Meer to the nice Maassluis. In the nineteenth century, Maassluis became world famous for being a towage company. The Municipal Museum gives you a nice picture of the interesting history of the harbor town. You will also pass corn mill De Hoop, a round tower mill from 1792. Historic Brielle is a place where cultural history is kept alive, because the city has still preserved the old defenses. The old city walls, nine bastions, five ravelins, an eighteenth-century gatekeeper's house and an equipped harbor battery with a bombproof guard house and many bunkers have been preserved. Worth to taste the atmosphere! On the way back you will discover the windmill of Oostvoorne. This ground sailer was built in 1821 and was used as a flour mill.
