Tour along the water at Maassluis and Maasdijk

Your cycling route starts at Paviljoen de Duinrand. You drive along the Brielse Meer to the nice Maassluis. In the nineteenth century, Maassluis became world famous for its towage company. The Municipal Museum gives you a nice picture of the interesting history of the port town. You will also pass the De Hoop flour mill, a round mill from 1792. Historic Brielle is a place where cultural history is kept alive, because the city has still well preserved the old defenses. The old city walls, nine bastions, five ravelins, an eighteenth-century gatekeeper's house and a furnished harbor battery with a bomb-proof guardhouse and many bunkers were preserved. Worth it to experience the atmosphere! On the way back you will discover the Oostvoorne mill. This ground sailor was built in 1821 and was used as a grist mill.
