Discover the Groote Peel

This route takes you through the most beautiful nature reserves around De Groote Peel. You'll cycle through the Dennendijkse Bossen, a young woodland planted on sand drifts and heathlands. You'll also discover Kwakvors, a small nature reserve of wet grasslands and bird-rich ponds. De Groote Peel National Park is a vast, watery, and tranquil raised bog area known primarily for its many bird species and unique history. The scars of past peat extraction are still visible throughout the landscape. The Deurnsche Peel and the adjacent Mariapeel, around the peat settlements of Griendtsveen and Helenaveen, are also remnants of this once-extensive raised bog area. The cycle tour also takes you past the picturesque church village of Asten.
