Cycling between Stavoren and Hindeloopen

HindeloopenYour route starts at the First Frisian Skating Museum. In Friesland, the Mecca of skating, you can relive all the memories and learn that skating is centuries old. You first drive through Hindeloopen. From here, skippers traded briskly with cities on the Baltic Sea. The town flourished in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, which is reflected in the captain's houses. Trade restrictions led to poverty and Hindeloopen became a fishing town.

Lighthouse You cycle through open polder land with meadows, dikes and many waterways via Koudum to Molkwerum. From afar you can see the cast iron Lighthouse of Stavoren, which is still in use. It has a height of almost sixteen meters and a range of 12 nautical miles. Driving along the IJsselmeer coast you have a beautiful view over the water. From afar you can already see Hindeloopen, just like Stavoren one of the Frisian Eleven Cities.
