Tour of castles in Hof van Twente

With this tour you will experience the beauty of Hof van Twente. In a landscape full of forests, meadows and meandering streams, you cycle past beautiful country houses, idyllic farms and old mills. The route also takes you through the picturesque towns of Goor and Diepenheim. The name Goor is old Dutch and means 'place in swampy lowlands.' Diepenheim is the smallest town in Overijssel and is known for its art, culture and historic country estates. Nijenhuis Castle has been owned by the Schimmelpenninck family since 1799. The centuries-old Weldam estate extends below Goor. Of course, the matching castle is not missing. The building was extensively renovated in 1645, but fell into serious disrepair in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Stop off at Eetcafe-Cafetaria't Zumpke for a cup of coffee along the way!
