History and nature on Schouwen-Duiveland

On Schouwen-Duiveland you cycle through several historical towns. You also pass through nature reserves such as the Vroongronden, the Schelphoek and the Prunjepolder.

Picturesque Brouwershaven
Moeders bij de markt is the starting point of your route. Enjoy a terrace here, the home-made treats and the view over the historic Markt. In addition to many old buildings, you will also see a statue of Jacob Cats, the Zeeland politician-poet (1577-1660) who was born here. Then you cycle your legs loose on the cycle path along the Grevelingenmeer. Just past Scharendijk you will see't Hert, a corn mill from 1748.

Ring wall
Moermond Castle originally dates back to the thirteenth century. In recent years, the damaged walls of the moat, among other things, have been restored. What a picture! In Renesse, you cycle along the old ring road. You will see a few beautiful monuments here, such as the sixteenth-century Jacobuskerk. Burgh-Haamstede also houses historical buildings.
