Schouwen-Duivenland: cultural hotspot.

From the Brouwersdam you can cycle straight onto Schouwen-Duiveland. First you cycle to Brouwershaven. Within the fortress walls you will find many beautiful old buildings here. Along the meadows you cycle to Schuddebeurs. In the Golden Age several grand houses were built here with accompanying parks. Zierikzee is a pleasant, but certainly also beautiful town. There are no fewer than 568 monuments, so take plenty of time to experience the unique historical atmosphere here. From junction 91 you cycle along the Prunje, the oldest polder on the island. Thanks to the 'Plan Tureluur' the former swamp has been returned to nature and is now a true bird paradise. Via Scharendijk you cycle back onto the Brouwersdam. Time for a drink on a terrace at Strandpaviljoen Brouw.
