Walking route around Zwolle

This route is full of variety: one minute you're walking in silence over winding paths, a moment later you're in the middle of the bustling city. You start with a cup of coffee at Puik Zwolle. The route leads through the water-rich IJssel and Weteringen landscape. You walk along the idyllic hamlet of Oldeneel and look out over the floodplains and dikes along the IJssel. In the outskirts of the village of Oldeneel there are some beautiful small-scale nature reserves. The landscape in the hamlet has changed considerably in recent years due to the excavation of the Scheller and Oldeneler Buitenwaarden. This creates space for the river and for nature development. From the dike you can see a colony of black terns breeding on specially installed nest rafts, a beautiful sight!
