Description

This route takes you through some nature reserves that are part of Grenspark Kempen-Broek. You drive through the forests west of Weert and through Belgium.

Broekmolen
The route starts on the edge of the Belgian village of Lozen. You'll cycle through the small-scale landscape of the Sint-Maartensheide nature reserve in no time. Here you see a mosaic of forest, tufts of heath, meadows and fields. This area is sparsely populated, so it is wonderful to travel miles on the car-free roads. You will pass the Broekmolen from 1738, an undershot water mill located on the Aabeek. In Stramproy you will pass De Nijverheid, a flour mill from 1903.

Weerterbergen
The Wijffelterbroek was once part of a large border swamp. A perfect area for smugglers, you can now enjoy beautiful views on a winding path. The Laurabossen is a former wood extraction forest. You will experience a wonderfully refreshing silence among the many coniferous trees. Just past the De IJzeren Man nature reserve, you can enjoy a terrace at De Sluis Weert. You cycle through the Weerterbergen to the Janzona, a flour mill from 1937.
