Ancient buildings in Leuven
From Oud-Heverlee you set course for Heverlee and Leuven. You will cycle past the Molen van Arenberg and the Arenberg Castle. The castle was built here in the fourteenth century by the lords of Heverlee. From the early sixteenth century, the current castle was built here in Renaissance style. In the nineteenth century it was radically renovated and in 1916 the Duke of Arenberg donated the castle to the University of Leuven. In addition to the castle, you will find many old buildings in Leuven that are worth a visit. How about, for example, the town hall of Leuvel or the Groot Begijnhof, which is on the list of World Heritage Sites? You will be amazed in Leuven. From Leuven you cycle back to Oud-Heverlee through various small towns.

Local specialty
In Bertem you can take a break to taste the local delicacy: a Veronneke. This pastry consists of crispy puff pastry covered with a soft filling of pastry cream and fruit. The pastry is finished with meringue, a real delight for the tongue. The Veronneke is available with apple, apricot and cherry filling.
