Cycling through the green Land of Herve

Characteristic villages
On this route you will pass through various characteristic villages, such as Olne, Trooz and Banneux. You also have a beautiful view of the river Vesder. You also cross this river twice during the trip. South of this river you cycle through the woods of Bois d\\\'Oltmont and Bois de Tancrémont. You then cycle through Banneux, a famous Marian pilgrimage site. According to legend, Mary appeared here eight times in 1933 for a little girl. The village is visited annually by about 700,000 pilgrims.

Herve cheese
Are you up for trying a local specialty? Then try Herve cheese. This cheese has been made in this area since the fifteenth century. This cheese is also called Limburg cheese, because Herve was located in the old Duchy of Limburg. Because of its pungent smell, the cheese is known as stink cheese. The taste of the cheese is strong and sharp. So the cheese is not for everyone. This dish is traditionally eaten on rye bread with Liège syrup, which is made from apples and pears. This cheese is also suitable as a conclusion to a meal. Then add a glass of wine or brown abbey beer.
