Today you cycle over the Eeserveld, through the green forests, the vast meadows and along the fens of the De Eese estate. On the river Linde you will find the De Gooyer mill. This polder mill was built in 1775 and was moved twice before it ended up in its current location. The mill is operational and can usually be visited on Saturdays. You cycle along the winding Linde to Ossenzijl. There you can visit the Weerribben Nature Activities Centre or the De Weerribben Outdoor Centre. The Weerribben-Wieden National Park is the largest lowland peat bog in Western Europe. This watery natural landscape with lakes, ditches, reed fields and swamp forests was created by peat extraction: peat was dredged here from the 15th century onwards. Stop off in Steenwijk at MyHotel Steenwijk!
