Description
There are some beautiful old villages in Southwest Drenthe. This route takes you through Diever and Vledder, among others. That will be a beautiful day full of sights and Drenthe's natural beauty.
Vledder
After a terrace at Landhotel & Restaurant Diever you set off. First you drive through the nice Diever. In the rural countryside you drive through a mosaic of grasslands, fields and small-scale forest. You regularly pass an old Saxon farm. Vledder is the next village on your route. Here you can admire, among other things, the old John the Baptist Church. At the Brink you will pass Museums Vledder, world famous for its collection of fake art!
Uffelterveen
From Wilhelminaoord you can also see the other side of Drenthe's history: that of former nineteenth-century mining colonies. For example, you drive through the Eesveense Hooilanden, a vast meadow area on either side of the Steenwijker Aa. In between you can get off at Huis ten Wolde for a pit stop. Then you drive a bit through the forests of the Uffelterveen. How wonderfully quiet it is here!
