Tour of South-East Friesland via Drachten

The south-eastern corner of Friesland is called De Friese Wouden. In this picturesque coulisse landscape, small-scale fields are separated by wooded banks. In the middle of this natural wealth lies the tea garden Halte Leppedijk. On the cozy terrace or on one of the jetties at the pond, you can enjoy the peace and quiet with a cup of tea and a pastry. You have almost fifty kilometers ahead of you. Along the way, you will experience the Frisian landscape at its purest and most beautiful. You will also cycle through Drachten. This area used to be rich in raised bog. The Drachtster Compagnonsvaart was dug to transport the extracted peat. Later, shipyards were built here. In the marina of Drachten, you can enjoy the view of countless ships, masts and flapping flags, before cycling back to your starting point.
