Description
In the western part of Zeeland lies the Walcheren peninsula where you can enjoy the vastness of the province while cycling through the landscape. You can see the North Sea, the Western Scheldt and the Veerse Meer. Your route starts at the edge of the Oranjezon nature reserve. From here you first cycle to the Veerse Meer and Veere. In Sint Laurens you pass the former windmill De Hoop (hull/remnant) from 1721. The next point of interest is also a mill. The former corn mill't Welvaaren was built in 1801 after its predecessor, a standard mill, was blown over. The High lighthouse of Westkapelle can be seen from afar. After a nice lunch at Dijkpaviljoen De Westkaap you will discover the Low lighthouse of Westkapelle (Noorderhoofd). You cycle back via Kasteel Westhove.
