Tour of Breda, Forestry Dorst and Vrachelse heath

After a cup of coffee at Brasserie Uilenbosch you get on your bike. From here you first drive to the Dorst Forestry, a forest area that mainly consists of pine trees that were planted at the beginning of the 19th century. In the heart of Breda you cycle past the impressive medieval Breda Castle, complete with a moat and four corner towers. It was built in 1353. In 1590 this castle was captured from the Spanish thanks to the famous trick with the peat ship. Nowadays the castle houses the Royal Military Academy, since 1826. You drive back via the Vrachelse Heide, a former heath and drifting sand area that is now mainly planted with Scots pine.
