Description

After a cup of coffee at Brasserie Uilenbosch, you get on your bike. From here, you first cycle to the Boswachterij Dorst, a forest area that mainly consists of pine trees that were planted in the early 19th century. In the heart of Breda, you cycle past the impressive medieval Breda Castle, complete with a moat and four corner towers. It was built in 1353. In 1590, this castle was conquered from the Spanish thanks to the famous trick with the peat ship. Nowadays, the Royal Military Academy is located in the castle, since 1826. You cycle back via the Vrachelse Heide, a former heathland and drifting sand area that is now mainly planted with Scots pine.
