Tour of Coevorden, Schoonebeek and Bargerveen

You cycle along the Stieltjeskanaal, a waterway that was constructed between 1880 and 1884. Just before junction 24 you pass the Katshaar, an earthen defense structure from 1672 that is surrounded by a heathland area. Further on you cycle through Western Forest, which enjoys a protected village view thanks to the beautiful monumental farms. On Griendtsveenstraat you pass three former staff houses of the family that ran the Griendtsveen Turfkruidsel Maatschappij. A little further on you will pass the unique Industrial Narrow Gauge Museum where there are two more national monuments. You drive a bit through the Bargerveen, a unique remnant of what was once a large swamp area. From junction 34 you cycle along the Schoonebeekerdiep, a stream that marks the border between the Netherlands and Germany. The route ends at Hotel Restaurant Talens.
