Green views between Markelo and Laren

This route takes you through rolling fields and stretches of forest and lets you enjoy wide views of open fields.

At Fuchsiaboerderij Erve Knopert you can marvel at the floral splendor of a fuchsia garden. With hundreds of varieties of fuchsia and tub plants, this garden is a true feast for the eyes. Dahlia lovers will also get their money's worth here.
You cycle past Huis Verwolde, a classicist nobleman's house from 1776. The house is located on the estate of the same name. This stately country house with a corner tower is one of the former recognized manors of the Zutphen Quarter. The house is first mentioned in 1346. It is accessible to the public. In the Chinese room you can admire precious wallpaper. You can also walk in the garden and forest of the estate. There you will also find The thick tree, an ancient oak that, with its circumference of more than 7.5 meters, is the thickest oak in the Netherlands.

Havezathe Oolde is a country estate and estate. The house was built in 1663 as a country estate of the nearby Old Oolde and was therefore previously called Nijenhuis. The house has an 18th century appearance. The estate is open to the public, the house and its immediate surroundings are not.

Stellingmolen De Hoop is a flour mill from 1839. The mill ground grain on wind power until 1924, after which it was further ground with an electric motor. In 1991, only the hull of the derelict mill was left. It was then thoroughly restored and is now regularly put into operation by a volunteer miller.
