Description

Your route starts at Holiday Park Buitencentrum Hessenheem. You drive through Markelo, Goor, Hengevelde and Diepenheim and will not miss all kinds of sights along the way. The landscape around Markelo is slightly hilly and is characterized by rolling ash trees and five hills. The place has dozens of national monuments, including farms, outbuildings, estates and burial grounds. Watermill Den Haller is located on the Diepenheim Molenbeek. It is probably the oldest existing water mill in the Netherlands: the corn mill was first mentioned in 1169. House Pekkedam or Peckedam was first mentioned in a document in the 12th century. The old country house was demolished in 1826 and in 1898 the current villa, which is part of the Nijenhuis estate, was built on that site. You can see it beautifully from the road!
